SANRAL ADVISES MOTORISTS OF DRILLING WORKS ALONGSIDE N1 NATIONAL ROAD FROM OLD OAK ROAD TO KOELENHOF INTERCHANGE

CAPE TOWN, 13 May 2025 – The South African National Roads Agency (SANRAL) advises residents and road users of scheduled drilling works alongside the N1 national road from Old Oak Road to Koelenhof Interchange (Brackenfell and Kraaifontein) from Monday 19 May until 18 July 2025 in Cape Town.

“The drilling works will take place alongside the N1 in the road reserve and median. Short sections of the road shoulder will be temporarily closed to facilitate the works, and all lanes will remain open to traffic. We advise road users to remain vigilant and be aware of slow-moving vehicles in the vicinity, Appropriate signage will be installed, and road users are urged to follow the displayed signage during this period,” said Randall Cable, SANRAL’s Provincial Head for the Western Cape.

Road-users are advised to plan their routes ahead of time and, where possible, leave for destinations earlier than usual.

“SANRAL appeals to road users to note and comply with the advance warning signs and speed restrictions when travelling past the construction work zones. To prioritise the safety of both the construction workers and road users, the speed limit along the route will be reduced during construction,” added Cable.

SANRAL apologises for any inconvenience caused during the drilling works and appreciates the public’s patience and cooperation during this period.
