Eastern Cape 24 June 2026 – The South African National Roads Agency SOC Limited (SANRAL) would like to advise road users of temporary intermittent road closures scheduled to take place on the N2 between Kareedouw R62 and Kareedouw Eerste Rivier R402 offramps, in the Eastern Cape on Friday, 26th June from 9h00 until 9h30 and again on the same day from 13h00 to 17h00. The coordinates where the line crosses the N2 are -34.00278 24.265322.
This road closure will take place to allow state-owned electricity entity Eskom SOC Limited to remove a power line.
The following alternate routes can be used:
- When travelling from Cape Town towards Humansdorp, road users can exit the N2 at the R402/Kareedouw/Eerste River off-ramp, proceed along the R402 to Kareedouw, and then continue on the R62 towards Humansdorp.
- When travelling from Humansdorp towards Tsitsikamma/Cape Town, road users can leave the N2 at the R62/Kareedouw interchange and travel along the R62 to Kareedouw. From Kareedouw, they can take the R402 and rejoin the N2 towards Tsitsikamma and Cape Town.
Local traffic officials will be on-site to manage traffic flow and to minimise delays.
‘Motorists are advised to plan their trips accordingly, adhere to speed limits and proceed with caution,” said Mbulelo Peterson, SANRAL’s Provincial Head for the Eastern Cape Province .
SANRAL apologises for any inconvenience caused.
