23 July 2026, Tshwane – The South African National Roads Agency SOC Limited (SANRAL) has noted a recent tweet by a certain Modibe Vladimir Modiba that is circulating on social media that the Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation (DPCI), commonly known as the Hawks, have obtained a warrant for the seizure of electronic devices to confiscate laptops to extract and preserve digital evidence in their supposed investigations at SANRAL.

SANRAL can confirm that the tweet is not only false, but it is malicious in its intent. SANRAL has also verified with the Hawks if such a warrant exists, and the Hawks have also confirmed that indeed the said warrant does not exist.
