Pietermaritzburg, 04 February 2026 – The South African National Roads Agency SOC Ltd (SANRAL) advises motorists of temporary road and lane closures associated with the replacement of bridge parapets at the Dr Chota Motala interchange above the N3 national road in Pietermaritzburg. The construction limits for the ongoing parapet replacement works extend from Masukwana Street along Dr Chota Motala Road, ending at Willowton Road.

“As part of the bridge repairs, several temporary lane closures will be implemented on the interchange and its immediate feeder roads within the defined construction area. These closures will occur at different times to allow essential maintenance activities to be carried out, aimed at preserving and improving regional road infrastructure. Temporary lane closures at the five interchange bridges sites will start from Masukwana Street up to Willowton Road when travelling along Dr. Chota Motala from CBD towards Northdale/ Mountain Rise,” said Serisha Sukraj, SANRAL KwaZulu-Natal’s Project Manager.
