SANRAL TO HOST WORLD ROAD ASSOCIATION (PIARC) TECHNICAL COMMITTEE MEETING AND INTERNATIONAL SEMINAR

eThekwini, 14 October 2025 – The South African National Roads Agency SOC Limited (SANRAL) will host the World Road Association (PIARC) Technical Committee Meeting and International Seminar in Durban on 15 – 16 October 2025 with a focus on the impact of extreme weather events on road transport systems and infrastructure.

Since its existence since 1909, PIARC has fostered and facilitated global discussion and knowledge sharing in the roads and road transport sector. The Association boasts 128 government members worldwide and retains consultative status to the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations.

Part of the work done by PIARC is to create and coordinate Technical Committees which unite experts from numerous areas, including road safety and design, network operations and maintenance, finance, and governance. Experts are nominated by member countries to work on issues identified under the Associations’ Strategic Plan. which is endorsed by member countries. These Technical Committees allow participants to access global information and expertise, along with professional development and networking opportunities.
