TEMPORARY NIGHT-TIME CLOSURE OF N2 SOUTHBOUND OFFRAMP AT EB
CLOETE INTERCHANGE

Durban, 30 July 2025 – The South African National Roads Agency SOC Limited (SANRAL) wishes to advise motorists of the temporary night-time closure of the N2 southbound off-ramp to the N3 Pinetown. This off-ramp connects Umhlanga to Pinetown via the EB Cloete Interchange (Spaghetti Junction).

‘’The closure is required to safely facilitate resurfacing works on a section of the ramp. This is part of SANRAL’s ongoing upgrade and maintenance activities within the broader EB Cloete Interchange improvement programme.” said Jason Lowe, SANRAL’s KZN Provincial Specialist Geometrics Engineer.

The temporary road closures will take place as follows:

• N2 Southbound Off-Ramp to N3 Westbound (Pinetown)
  o From 20:00 on Wednesday, 30 July 2025 to 04:00 on Thursday, 31 July 2025

Alternative route:

Motorists travelling from the North Coast/Umhlanga toward Pinetown are advised to:

• Take the N2 to N3 Durban off-ramp
• Take the Sherwood off-ramp
• Turn right onto Jan Smuts Highway
• Turn right onto the N3 onramp
• Continue on the N3 to Pinetown
  Alternatively, drivers may take the M19 from the Umgeni Interchange to reach Pinetown.

‘’SANRAL apologises for any inconvenience caused and thanks the public for their patience and cooperation as we work to improve South Africa’s national road network. “We urge all road users to plan ahead; and where possible, depart earlier than usual. Operators of heavy vehicles and trucks are advised to delay travel during the closure or make use of suitable staging areas to prevent congestion. Public transport providers are requested to ensure their drivers are informed of the closure,” said Lowe.
