TRAFFIC ADVISORY

For lane closures on the N2 Section 11 from Linton Grange Interchange to St Albans Interchange

Eastern Cape, 24 March 2025 – The South African National Roads Agency SOC Limited (SANRAL) advises road users that lane closures will be implemented on the N2 Section 11, from the Linton Grange Interchange to St Albans Interchange, where the project is currently underway.

The effective date is from 24 March 2025 until 31 March 2025.

There will be a minimum of two lane closures within a 24-hour period from km 8.0 to km 12.8 on the Eastbound slow lane and km 12.8 to km 8.0 on the Westbound slow lane.

Additionally, there will be a daytime shoulder closure from km 19.0 to km 22.8 Eastbound, and a mobile closure for line marking between km 16.0 and km 22.8 for both the Eastbound and Westbound carriageways.

Motorists can expect minimal delays, due to the required reduction in traveling speed to ensure safety.

Motorists can expect the movement of construction plant along the closures.

“The extensive scope of this project includes texture correction, rut corrections, in-situ recycling of the base layer using bituminous emulsion, base layer patches, and resealing the existing road surface. Although these activities may result in temporary inconveniences, the substantial long-term benefits primarily revolve around preserving infrastructure. The preservation and improvement of road infrastructure not only guarantees smoother travel experiences but also plays a crucial role in enhancing the economic and social well-being of the community,” said Andrew Van Gruting, SANRAL Eastern Cape’s Acting Provincial Head.

SANRAL appeals to motorists to adhere to the warning signs, to reduce speed when approaching the construction zones and to plan their trips accordingly.

SANRAL apologises for any inconvenience caused.
