Transport Minister Barbara Creecy to conduct oversight visit to Huguenot Tunnel

Western Cape, 22 October 2024 – Transport Minister Barbara Creecy will on Thursday 24 October conduct an oversight visit to SANRAL’s Western Region, with a site inspection of the Huguenot Tunnel control room, toll plaza and soon to be constructed second tunnel, the North Bore.

At 3.9km, the Huguenot Tunnel is the longest road tunnel in Africa. The tunnel has been in operation for 36 years and has to date seen more than 125 million vehicles pass through.

Members of the media are invited to join the Minister on the site inspection, followed by a media briefing and interview opportunities.

Date:               Thursday, 24 October 2024

Time:               10h00 – 12h00

Venue:            Huguenot Tunnel Main Control Centre
