Jobs and skills transfer
Employment is one of the greatest challenges facing South Africa and each year SANRAL plays an important role in creating job opportunities for communities affected by their projects. The agency strives to ensure that workers – men, women, and youth - gain a range of skills during the time they are employed on projects so that their future prospects are improved. Moloto is one such project. Bulela Bonani, Abram Ntuli, and Nomsa Masombuka are fortunate to be employed on the R573 Moloto Road project:

I started working in road construction in 2013. Working on the Moloto project has enabled me to broaden my skills as you end up doing multiple jobs.”

BULELA BONANI
– SPRAYER

I joined in January 2018. As a local resident, the upgrade project is helping our community with job creation and will reduce road fatalities.“

ABRAM NTULI
– GENERAL WORKER

Working on this project has improved my financial situation as for the first time, I was able to buy my child a school uniform and contribute towards the upkeep of my family. I keep learning daily as well and find the job challenging.”

NOMSA MASOMBUKA
– GENERAL WORKER
