Subcontracting tenders are advertised in specific local and regional newspapers linked to the areas in which the services will be rendered?
South Africa has a road network of 750 000km, which is the 10th largest in the world.
SANRAL’s targeted procurement philosophy is aimed at broad-based BEE, thus contributing to economic growth in our country and the Southern African region as a whole. Guided by the PPPFA, SANRAL has made a concerted effort to train and capacitate emerging SMMEs giving them the tools needed to tender for SANRAL work packages, and to work under the mentorship of bigger contractors.

Yes, we do. SANRAL continues to support skills development in engineering and the built environment.
Scholarships are awarded on the basis of the academic ability and financial need of the applicant. Preference will be given to those from rural schools. SANRAL reserves the right to withdraw any scholarship that may have been awarded on the basis of misrepresentation by the applicant and/or that the applicant is the beneficiary of other financial support schemes.
For bursaries, consideration will be given to needy South African students who have successfully completed their first year of university studies or those currently registered for 2nd, 3rd, 4th year and postgraduate studies. However, strongly motivated applications from first year students studying towards the Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Engineering degree in Civil Engineering and registered with a university will be considered. Bursary and scholarship application forms can be found on the SANRAL website: www.nra.co.za or email info@nra.co.za
The bursary programme is directly aligned to our sustainability and as such we have taken the decision to support only students who pursue undergraduate and postgraduate qualifications in Civil Engineering.
