27 August 2026, Gauteng – The South African National Roads Agency SOC Limited (SANRAL) wishes to inform road users of temporary lane closures on the N3 national road at the Van Buuren Interchange (km 26). The closures are required for the removal and reinstatement of the bridge joints at Van Buuren Road.

The details of the closures are as follows:

Preliminary Dates: From 1 October 2026 until 30 October 2026 (Confirmation of exact dates will be communicated towards the end of September)

Location: Between km 25 to km 27 for closure sequence 1 to 4 described above.

Time: 24 hours per day

Duration: Lane closures will be implemented progressively, leaving two lanes open at all times for traffic flow on the affected carriageway.

Closure Lengths: The lane closure length will not exceed 2 km excluding the transitions.

The sequence of works to be followed are as follows:

1. The partial closure of the south bound carriageway 24 hours per day to replace the joints in the fast lanes section. A minimum of two slow lanes will be open on the South Bound carriageway for the length of the work area.
2. Once completed, a partial closure of the south bound carriageway 24 hours per day to replace the slow lane joints will be implemented. A minimum of two fast lanes will be open on the south bound carriageway for the length of the work area.
3. The partial closure of the north bound carriageway 24 hours per day to replace the fast lane joints. A minimum of two slow lanes will be open on the north bound carriageway for the length of the work area.
4. Once completed, a partial closure of the north bound Carriageway 24 hours per day to replace the slow lane joints. A minimum of two fast lanes will be open on the north bound carriageway for the length of the work area.

• Exercise patience and caution while navigating the affected area.
• Seek alternative routes to their destination.
